Welcome at Claudia Captures Manchester. My name is Claudia and I am a student at the Dutch photography academy Forum Beeldtaal. Here I follow a 4 year course about visual storytelling.
At the moment I am in my 3rd year and me and my fellow students are starting to work on our own big photography project, which will lead to an exhibition at the Pennings Foundation in Eindhoven (NL) in November 2025. If all goes well…
My project: searching for the identity of Manchester
The topic I have chosen for my big photography project is finding the identity of Manchester. I moved from the Netherlands to Greater Manchester in June 2023 and I can’t wait to get to know the city better. In this project I hope to find and capture the real Manchester, not just the ‘touristy’ bit. And I hope to find the to answer questions as:
– What makes Manchester the city that it is today?
– Who or what is a Mancunian?
– Will I be able to call myself a Mancunian and what does it take to do so?
Become part of the journey
On this blog you can follow me on my journey. I will dive into different subjects that all have to do with the city. Think of music, rain, trains, bees, people. Per subject it will take some time to make photos and write a decent blog to accompany those. So you don’t have to expect something new every week.
Have you found something in one of the blogs that is incorrect? Do you have additional information about the subject? Or do you have any suggestions for me to follow up on? Feel free to leave a comment below one of the blogs. Due to the many spambots that are active these days, comments will not immediately be shown, but will be moderated.
Do you want to be notified of new blogs, but do not want to keep refreshing my web page?
